🏡 From Chapel Hill Dreams to Cary Roots: Why We’re Turning Our House into the Heart of Sunset Hill Farm

Sometimes, the right path forward is the one that brings you closer to home—literally.

After much reflection, Meredith and I have made the decision to cancel the construction of our new home in Chapel Hill. It wasn’t an easy choice—we had poured energy, ideas, and dreams into that project. But in our hearts, we realized that what we’re building here in Cary is far more than just a home. It’s a mission, a community hub, and the living, breathing headquarters of Sunset Hill Farm NC LLC.

What started as a small micro-farm concept has grown into something much deeper. SHF isn’t just about growing plants—it’s about growing connections, sharing knowledge, and building a sustainable future, right here where we are. Our house on Maple Street in downtown Cary is perfectly situated to be the heart and soul of that movement.

By shifting our focus to this home—our current home—we're embracing a powerful truth: we already have everything we need to make a difference. The land, the people, and the spirit of Sunset Hill Farm are already rooted here.

Instead of starting from scratch elsewhere, we're channeling our energy into transforming this house into a true HQ for the farm, a community gathering space, and a symbol of our values. It’s where we hold workshops, host events, propagate Purple Tomatoes, and where neighbors stop by just to say hello. It’s where T.I.E.S. (Teach, Inspire, Empower Sustainably) really comes to life.

This wasn’t just a real estate decision. It was a values decision—and a practical one, too. We believe that being present, grounded, and committed to our community here in Cary is what Sunset Hill Farm is all about.

So no, there won’t be a new build in Chapel Hill. But there will be growth, beauty, and transformation right here where our roots are already planted.

Stay tuned. The best is just beginning—right from our front porch. 🌿
